Parity Groups

Setting up purchasing power parity tiers and country groupings.

Parity groups (also called tiers) define how countries are grouped by purchasing power and what discount each group receives.

GoPayLocal comes with a sensible 5-tier default that you can use immediately:

TierDiscountExample Countries
Tier 1 — Full Price0%US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore
Tier 2 — Slight Discount15%Spain, Portugal, South Korea, Israel, Italy, Czech Republic
Tier 3 — Moderate Discount30%Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Thailand, Poland, Argentina, South Africa
Tier 4 — Significant Discount45%India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Colombia, Egypt
Tier 5 — Maximum Discount60%Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal

Click Add Tier to create a new parity tier. Specify a name and discount percentage, then assign countries.

Click on any tier to edit its discount percentage or name. Changes propagate immediately.

Remove a tier to move its countries to “no discount” (Tier 1). Alternatively, merge it with another tier.

Drag and drop countries between tiers, or use the search and bulk-assign functionality.

Each country can belong to only one parity tier. The dashboard shows:

  • All 200+ countries
  • Their current tier assignment
  • Their PPP factor (for reference)
  • Their currency
  • Search — Find countries by name or code
  • Select All — Select all countries in a tier
  • Move — Move selected countries to a different tier
  • Reset — Reset to default tier assignments

If you’ve modified your tiers and want to start over:

  1. Go to Parity Groups in the dashboard
  2. Click Reset to Defaults
  3. Confirm the action

This resets all tiers and country assignments to the default 5-tier setup.

Parity groups are set at the account level and shared across all campaigns. However, each campaign can override the discount percentage for specific tiers:

Account-level Tier 3: 30% discount
Campaign A: uses account default (30%)
Campaign B: overrides to 25%

This lets you run A/B tests or have different discount levels for different products without changing the tier structure.

When using PPP Factor pricing mode, the discount is calculated from each country’s actual PPP conversion factor rather than the tier’s fixed percentage. The PPP factors are sourced from World Bank data and updated periodically.
